Most people these days have been a member at one dating site or another. I am sure some of you have been a member at more than one. However, not all dating sites (some describe themselves as relationship sites) are of the same quality. Dating sites can and do work, you just need to know what sort of things to look out for. Here I will provide as many cautions as I can think of to hopefully make your experience with whatever dating sites you choose a positive one. I will continue to add to this list, but feel free to comment with your own additions.

1. False profiles: this has to be the worst problem for many dating sites. Some of the smaller, unknown dating sites may create fake profiles that will contact you in the hopes that you will upgrade your membership to respond to that person.
2. Spammers: beware of some spammers (scammers) on some dating sites. There have been some cases of fake profiles contacting people on dating sites telling them to visit some web address to respond. These are usually portrayed as Russian women that do not speak english very well, but is no limited to that. They can be from anywhere, but will commonly have poor grammar and spelling.
3. Unauthorized Credit Card Charges: this problem is not common, but it can and does happen. When signing up to a dating site with your credit card, be aware of all checkboxes and options on the page. Some will have little boxes somewhere on the form that will sign you up for other sites or services without your prior knowledge. These checkboxes are not always easy to see, but if you do come across one using these sort of marketing methods I suggest that you do not bother using their services.

I hope these cautions will help you all have a positive experience using dating sites. As I said before, they can and do work. You just need to be cautious about what sites you choose and how you use their services.
